Dendritic cells (DCs) play a pivotal role in the immune system, particularly in initiating and regulating adaptive immune responses. Dendritic cell maturation is a critical step in their functional activation, triggered by the recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns or danger signals through pattern recognition receptors. Mature DCs exhibit enhanced antigen-presenting capabilities and modulate downstream immune responses by secreting cytokines and directly interacting with T cells. With advancing immunological research, the differentiation, maturation, and application of dendritic cells in disease models are offering innovative approaches for vaccine development and immunotherapy.
